Greetings From Florida

Day 4 of our vacation and I’ve got some time to blog. So far we’ve had an interesting vacation. Our 9:30 am flight out of San Antonio was canceled and then pushed back. The fun part was that they separated Stephanie and I by 3 hours. After calling Continental we finally managed to get on the same planes. Sitting next to each other was a chore in itself too. Tack on an hour and a half wait on the tarmac because of thunder showers and it makes for a long day.

The good news is that we made it to Florida safe and sound. Since then we’ve had a lot of fun. Sunday we went deep sea fishing where I caught 2 king fish (the biggest one was 25-30lb) and a barracuda which we had to throw back. Dad and Brian (brother in-law-in-law, yes that’s right in-law-in-law) caught a cobia (good eat’n) and a king fish each. A good day was had by all. No pictures unfortunately though I’ll see if I can scrounge some up from my family.

Yesterday was the Alligator Farm which as fun in it’s own right but would have been more enjoyable if it wasn’t so hot. I’ve got a lot of pictures of the keeper feeding some of the gators and lets just say that she’s a braver person than I. Aside from the alligator farm we had Cassie’s birthday party where she decimated a cake that Stephanie decorated for her. (Same link above for pictures).

Today was a “veg” day and a much needed one at that. We’ll probably hit the ground running tomorrow but to where I don’t know. Jokerr out.

Slow News Day

You know it’s a slow news day when CNN has the Bush-Blair tape on the FRONT PAGE!!!!  He said the “shit”, get over it people!  Now go and tell mommy and daddy. This is why I hardly watch the news. Always making something out of nothing, and showing more of the bad than the good.

Cocaine Pringles

I read about this the other day and thought I would share.  Some people will do anything to sell drugs.  I will give him some credit though, that was pretty clever.

IE Sucks

Rant!!!!

I hate Internet Explorer. It is the biggest piece of crap! If you’re not a web developer then you won’t know what I’m talking about. But for us web developers, it’s a pain to have to write bad code just to get IE to work right. It doesn’t handle transparent images, has errors when creating boxes, can’t parse CSS files correctly, has ActiveX, and the list goes on and on. Oh, but wait, IE 7 is coming out *soon*. Great, now I have to break my pages again!

Some links for you if you’re curious as to what I’m talking about:

Transformers

Steph, honey, babe.  I don’t know what you have planned for us next Forth of July but I won’t be able to make it.  I’ll be busy watching Transformers the Movie.  Just letting you know in advance.

WOW I’m Addicted

I purchased World Of Warcraft about two weeks ago and all I can say is WOW (punn intended).  My first impression of MMORPGs was from Ever Crack…er Ever Quest.  Let’s just say that I didn’t want to be associated with “those people.”  After all, they would spend more hours in a day playing a game than working, sleeping, or anything else.  With that kind of negative image who would want to play MMORPGs?

About a year ago I purchased Guild Wars while I was traveling.  I figured that since I’m away from home, I have time to spare to play/try an MMO.  While I liked Guild Wars, I wasn’t really into it.  Most likely because I didn’t have any friends on at the same time.  A year later I decided to try it again and for about a month I’ve had fun with it.  Wasn’t “blow me away” but it was fun.  Some of my friends suggested WOW so after contimplating the idea of paying a monthly fee to play a game I decided to try it for a month.

To my surprise, I have been blown away by WOW.  It just offers so much content, my friends are on it, and it’s just a lot of fun.  I’m now asking myself, “why oh why did you not buy this game before now?”  If you haven’t played it, try it.

It’s a series of tubes

It’s really hard to explain how the “interweb” works.  Very technical stuff really.  The “interweb” is a series is tubes.  Thank you Senator Ted Stevens for that wonderul definition of the internet and how it works…moron.  It’s people like this that give senators, represenatives, and the likes a bad name.  If you don’t know what you’re talking about or voting on, don’t speak or vote.  http://blog.wired.com/27BStroke6/?entry_id=1512499
