Too Much Time

I check out Google Video just about everyday to see whats out there and I stumbled across a couple of videos that I thought you might like.  You know people have too much time on thier hands when they make movies of Pac-Man, Street Fighter 2, and Super Mario Brothers.  I “sware by the ancient Kanomi code” that you’ll find these videos funny if you’ve ever played the game.

Safe Mode

It seems that Microsoft has recommended that Windows users run Word in safe mode. FTA

In order for this attack to be carried out, a user must first open a malicious Word document attached to an e-mail or otherwise provided to them by an attacker.

[Rant]This brings up the aged old question, why is a word document a means of attack/virus? A friend of mine is always saying “Word documents should not spread viruses, they should hold text!” I couldn’t agree more. Sure documents can hold pictures, tables, and text but why in God’s holy name would they be allowed to hold viruses. If you have never used OpenOffice give it a try, I’m sure you’ll like it. It does everything that “word documents” should and its free!

Ghost Rider

I had heard that they were making a Ghost Rider movie and the rumors said that Nic Cage was in it.  Looks like the rumors are true.  Let’s just hope that this is better than the Punisher and the Hulk.

WMD Case Mod

I’ve seen some really cool case mods in the past but this one is just awsome!  It amazes me how much free time some people have.  WMD Case Mod.

Spurs & Mavericks

I’m watching game 6 of the Spurs and Mavericks game and I must say it looks like its going to come down to the wire.  There seems to be one repeating patern with the Spurs games though.  The refs love that whistle.  “What, you breathed on him.  Blllllrrrrrrpppppp.  Foul.”  This is the reason why I don’t watch the NBA except during playoffs.

Prison v. Work

IN PRISON……….you spend the majority of your time in a 10X10 cell.
AT WORK………..you spend the majority of your time in an 8X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON………you get three meals a day.
AT WORK……….you get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON……….you get time off for good behavior.
AT WORK………..you get more work for good behavior.

IN PRISON……….the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK………..you must often carry a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

IN PRISON……….you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK………..you could get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON………you get your own toilet.
AT WORK……….you have to share the toilet with some people who pee on the seat.

IN PRISON………..they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK…………you aren’t even supposed to speak to your family.

IN PRISON………all expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required.
AT WORK……….you get to pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON……….you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.
AT WORK ……….you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON…….. .you must deal with sadistic wardens.
AT WORK………..they are called managers.

Now get back to work. You’re not getting paid to check emails.

I Guess I’m Vista Ready…

Microsoft has recently updated their main page for Windows Vista.  Before I go into too much detail let me all remind you that I’ve played around with their Beta copies of Vista on a 999MHz Processor with 768MB PC133 RAM, 20GB hard drive and a 64MB Radeon 9600.  With that said I should qualify for the basic version of Windows Vista.  We’ll let me just say that I hope for their sakes that they have made some drastic improvements.  With those specs I was crawling!!!  The beta versions I was messing with didn’t have the full Areo theme going but did have some transparent windows by default.  That same box (same specs and all) is now my Gentoo workstation.  It r0×0rs my b0×0rs.  I do have another box that more than meets the requirements for premium.  So I guess I’m ready though you’ll have to pardon me if I don’t seem too sure….

PICNIC v. PEBKAC

I just got of the phone with one of those users who can realy make you want to shoot yourself. While talking with friend I told him that it was a total case of PEBKAC, Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair. He in turned replyed with PICNIC, Problem In Chair, Not In Computer. This brings up an interesting question. Which one is it? The urge to scream something is growing. Do I yell “PEBKAC!!!!” or do I yell “PICNIC!!!!”? Tell me for the fate of the world hangs in the balance of this one decision.

Heat Wave!

Vvvvvvvvvvvvvrm. Ah the sound of multiple fans blowing. A sound that puts you at ease removing any and all troubles from your life. Ok, maybe not. The AC at our office went out on Monday and it’s not getting any cooler. I have a small USB fan that provides some relief however when the tempurature is hovering at 84F it just doesn’t cut it. To help relieve the new found heat wave the building manager gave us a couple of fans to use. Too bad it doesn’t help too much. I can say one good thing from this unwanted increase in temperature, I’m drinking a ton of water. Three to four liters a day. Prayerfully it will be working tomorrow.

Linux Hater

I was reading The Register as I do every day and I stumbled across this article.  “ShellyTheRepublican” gives here obviously pro Microsoft Republican extremist and uninformed opinion of Linux and any other non Microsoft OS.  Personally, I found it hilarious.  The blog has been flamed enough if you read it and want to comment, there are over 500 comments, but still, I thought you might enjoy.
