It’s Great To Be Sore
This past Thursday I joined the Spectrum, a fitness club based out of San Antonio. I choose the Spectrum based on a couple of reasons. First off they have a location right by our house and another right by the office. Convenience is a wonderful thing :). Secondly they had the best New Years deal. To be honest I don’t make New Years Resolutions simply because I know I won’t keep it. I’ve been wanting to join a gym/fitness club for about 2 months now but I knew that the best rates/deals would only come at the first of the year. The third reason I joined Spectrum is because all my friends that go to the Spectrum rave about it.
So far I’ve been to the club twice now. My first day was on Thursday to “try it out”. Having not worked out in almost 2 years I decided to do more cardio than anything else. Hence I kicked my butt on the treadmill for a good solid 30 minutes. After that I did a light weight workout. Needless to say I was tired but I love that feeling. I love that feeling you get when you get in the car after kicking your own butt. It’s a great feeling! I was going to go to the club yesterday and take today off but Steph got some free Spurs tickets last minute and we went to the game. So instead I went to the club and repeated my workout. I’m still very sore from my workout but it’s a good sore. My body is telling me that it’s been far to long since I worked out. I’m looking forward to soreness going away as that, IMHO, is a sign that your body is ready to take on a heavier workout. I’ll of course continue to do my weights adding a little more each day but I find it difficult to just jump right back into to my old routine after such a long hiatus.
