Google’s At It Again
I just downloaded the Google Pack, a set of applications and tools that is packaged and managed by Google, and so far so good. There’s nothing really breathtaking about the programs in the pack; FireFox, Adobe 7, Trillian, all the Google apps, and some others. It’s just nice to see that some of the good things that any self respecting geek uses, FireFox and Ad-Aware to name a few, are now being advertised by Google. Since almost 100% of the online community know what Google is and usually like to see what they suggest we might actually get more people using these tools. I can see it know, John Q’s Grandma is now going to Google and saying, “What’s this FireFox thing?” One thing that’s interesting to note is that pack is managed by a Google Updater. The updater is nothing more than a small application that manages the installed applications, even if you already have some of the applications already installed. I had the old version of the Google Toolbar for IE installed and it notified my that a new version was available. All in all it’s worth a look, especially the Google Pack Screensaver!
